About the Program BCBSRI, a nonprofit corporation serving our members since 1939. We are Rhode Island’s largest locally based health plan, and an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. We currently provide health insurance to 670,000 members with a workforce of 1100 employees.
In 2004, BCBSRI processed over $1.9 billion in claims including: - $896 million for hospital care
- $736 million for surgical/medical -- physician care
- $302 million for prescription drugs
Out of every premium dollar collected, 87% goes directly to pay physicians, hospitals, and providers, 10% goes to administrative expense and 3% is allocated to reserves. The challenge becomes how can we become more efficient, add greater value and support the organization in reaching it’s mission to "Provide members with peace of mind and improved health by representing them in their pursuit of affordable high quality healthcare."
One way is to focus on Organizational Effectiveness, and we are doing that within our Human Resources Department. Join Lois Gardner, Senior Organizational Effectiveness Consultant as she shares some of transformations that have occurred within the Training, Organizational Development and HR Development functions at BCBSRI.
During this session you will: - Hear about the evolutionary process of the training function.
- Understand our focus on Internal Consulting
- Listen to some of our experiences
- Find out where we are today
- And ask questions throughout that may help you and your organization
